Former Lieutenant George Herbert Walker Bush visits the Palm Springs Air Museum many years ago with fellow former President Gerald Ford (not seen here) to see a vintage TBM Avenger bomber like the one Bush flew during World War II, when he won the Distinguished Flying Cross and many other medals for his combat service, which included having to parachute from his burning plane and be rescued by a submarine, while two other crewmen aboard did not survive. I like to think of this George Bush as the good Bush by comparison, and enjoyed covering the visit as a newspaper reporter.
